Cat Grooming Pricing Survey

Unveiling the 2024 Cat Grooming Pricing Survey: Insights from Across the United States.

After surveying over 200 cat groomers across the country, we’ve compiled the following statistics based on The eight U.S. economic regions defined by the Department of Commerce Bureau of Economic Analysis: New England, Mideast, Southeast, Great Lakes, Plains, Rocky Mountains, Southwest, and Far West.

Below you’ll find the average price in each region. Click below the image below for the Average Cat Groom, Nail Trims, Shorthaired Baths, Longhaired Baths, Hairless Cat Baths, Lion Cuts, Comb Cuts and Matted Shavedown Grooms.

The most common cat grooming service was a Lion Cut or Shavedown.

When asked if a cat groomer would take cats if they were “under the influence” of OTC or vet prescribed sedatives.

Over half of cat groomers polled groom without a second person or assistance, while almost 25% groom with an assistant part of the time.

If unable to finish a groom, half of groomers charge for only the services completed, while others charge nothing. But this may be due to turning the cat away earlier in the groom.

Style of business can affect grooming prices as expenses can vary, in addition to how many appointments can be scheduled. A mobile groomer (meaning they arrive to the owner’s home in a specially outfitted van or trailer) being the most expensive on average, while home-based salons, which avoid having additional expenses from a separate location, were the lowest average groom price.

Thank you to everyone who participated in this year’s survey!
